Zoas looking kinda funny.... (1 Viewer)

come to think of it, I have a frag of the same zoo's (maybe from the same person) melt down to a head or two and then with in days come back with tons of new heads..

Little more color to. If everything else if fine, you'll just have to watch them and see what they do.

hmm. That's weird. Bump for an update and question of my own- What does it mean when a zoo pulls its skirt down over the polyp itself, so that it looks like a little bulging mushroom?

Could be that it had a good meal. If you see stringy stuff coming out of the mouth, it is expelling waste. If it doesn't do that, something could be irritating it. If it is new or you have added something new, inspect it or do a dip (sometimes I even do a freshwater dip on zoas that are having issues) and look for eggs or nudis. I've never had nudis myself but I have seen them. They are very hard to spot as they are the same color as the zoas they eat. So, look carefully.

You could have something swimming by and messed with their space. I have some that close with I feed the fishies, but then open right after that.

I thought maybe this would help- it looks like the dome-shaped middle and right watermelon zoanthids closest to the camera. How the mouth is the highest point on the zoanthid because it's holding it's skirt down. I'm wondering why mine is doing this. As far as I know, nothing could be bothering it.

I don't know... probably a bad sign, haha... I lost all the watermelons... there's your update.

the bambams however are doing great (although they haven't grown off the frag tile yet, but that could be because I've fragged them a couple times)

Sorry to hear that buddy. I hope your bambams continue to do well! I may have to get a frag of those from you in the future!

yeah, hopefully they'll start growing onto the rocks so I can maybe cut the frag disc up or something... i've had pretty minimal luck gluing polyps directly to frag plugs, so i might need to try something different
