Neptune Systems Trident (1 Viewer)

You may have just answered my question, I thought I saw something about the dos system automatically calibrating itself continuously when used on this. Is that true

It won't calibrate (running the routine where it doses out 40ml to a graduated cylinder). What it will do is adjust the DOS within limits you set. You say you want Alk to be 8.0 and you normally dose 40ml. It will adjust that 40ml up and down to hold your Alk at your target value of 8.

You also set safeguards. A range it can operate in, and a limit of how much it can increase or decrease the dose. Default for Alk is +-0.4 and +-35%. That means it will increase your dose by up to 35% as you drop closer to 7.6 and decrease it by up to 35% as you get close to 8.4. If you get outside those numbers it will return dosing to the nominal 40ml and send you an alert. The amount of increase and decrease goes up the closer you get to your max range values. Kinda like adjusting you speed in a car by pressing on our letting up on the gas pedal.

That is correct from what I saw.

The reagents you buy to resupply will be a 2 months supply for the 4/2/2 schedule and listed as such. The reagents that COME WITH THE TRIDENT are the same size but are listed as a 1 month supply on the box because you may use more during the initial setup and configuration.

At least thats how I understood it.

Just saw an email this morning, all places are sold out. I hate myself that I didn't read the thread yesterday

Correct. You'll probably do more tests when you first get it.

Correct. And you’ll find yourself starting lots of tests manually just because you can and it’s so easy. They don’t want to say you get 2 months on the first set as all of the setup, calibration, and manual tests will leave you with less reagent and they don’t want to lie or promise for something that may not make the 2 month mark.

The announcement was at 10pm last night, so not much notice. Did you check the local stores too?

Neptune did make the comment that instead of doing a big first batch with pre-orders and a long time to the next batch, they are sending these out to stores as they get produced.

Sounds like local stores were awarded units for sale, based on volume of Neptune sales.....Terrence did a live stream at 6PM central time yesterday, announcing midnight PST release. We seen them available at BRS at 1:45am. They had around 50 units and lasted around 15 mins.

eBay has one going for $1400 :)

Thanks for your infos Ben.

New Wave might have some. Doug was telling me awhile back that they are a plat store too.

Wow, good for them! The maintenance side of the business must be buying a lot of hardware.

Well, now that the NDA is lifted, can one of you take some pictures of the inside of the unit? :)

Also - do you know if the intake line is purged between tests? Or is there tank water in the line until the next test? Is this part of the reason they make you test alkalinity 4 times a day?

That was one of the big no’s during the testing phase. Now that’s it’s over I can see if it’s fine. I’d imagine you’d see them anyway from regular users in a day or two.
