Durand tank build (1 Viewer)

He looks good. My Midas Gold is awesome. So much character. Diamond is cool as well.. when he's not rearranging my sand bed almost daily. LOL
Always had diamonds back in the day. Trying this guy this time around. But honestly I’m starting to hate sand lol. Shallow tanks and sand don’t do well together.

Ha. How do the Wrasses do without sand though? Thought it was required as that is how they sleep

I’ve kept melanarus without sand but the rest that I have all require it. So sand has to stay. But I can still be mad about it 🤣🤣

The rock I have near my overflow had a center area for holding sand for a wrasse but after adding the leopard I had to add a lot more sand to the tank because the “wrasse den” area was not big enough for two. I know this because the leopard and melanarus took turns taking all the sand out and spitting it into a new area of the tank that now has a majority of the sand.
.

One more because I caught myself day dreaming while setting up some sump cameras. Lol

Hoping to start traveling more now that the kids are getting older. This should help to be able to keep an eye on things.

I had a dosing line pop off the doser a day or so after replacing all the lines. My leak sensor is directly below the dosers and triggered an alarm almost instantly. Shutting the doser and return pump off. Not the skimmer though. And that caused the skimmer to overflow back into the sump luckily but boy did it stink lol. Gotta figure out the programming on that still.

Little low tide (water change) action from the weekend

On another note 😡 Got a clown that has decided she wants to eat my large melanarus. my wife said shes been chasing him all day and if it wasn’t for the next he would have jumped out a few times. These two have been together for almost 3 years. So now im trying to catch her and either get rid of her or timeout for a few days in the sump and then add back. If shes gonna just be a bully again then ill rather just not have clowns I guess. Anyone have any experience with this? Ive never had one turn crazy like this as bad before.

In my experience, all of my clowns end up getting pretty territorial. However most the time it's just with me when I put hands in the tank and the occasional nip at a fish. Not so much the constant chasing

I’ve experienced both of those situations. This is crazy what she is doing. Melanarus is hiding under rocks and she chases him out to chase him more. It’s wild.

Clownfish are still damsels. So, they might look cute, but they are usually not that cute! ... I might need a Melanurus if you need to save it from your clownfish!!! My tank is very peaceful!!! (Well, except the darn flame hawkfish's tail nipping habbit)😆😆😆

Is the Melanarus smaller in size specially compared to the clown I’m guessing

Ordered a new f4 pump. Of course it was delayed a day in shipping due to this amazing winter that just won’t go away lol. Still need to mix up my po4 for dosing but ran out of time so maybe tomorrow. But for now afr, no3 and kalk rocking and rolling.

Very nice! I like how it's pretty much built to be mounted. Looks clean

Yes it comes with the screws and everything for easy mounting.

This pump is a little loud. I don’t notice it running as much when dosing my no3 and all for reef. But those are small amounts so the pump does not run for very long. But my kalk dose is 133ml and it takes a min or so to dose that amount so it’s very noticeable how loud it is. I may end up putting the fx1 pro back on for the kalk dose but I’ll give it a day or so.

I believe the hydros x10 uses the exact same pumps and I agree it can be loud at the higher speeds. For my kalk, I have it spread across 96 doses and on the slower setting. Maybe you could try something like that?

I’m only allowed 24 doses per day with this pump. Or else yea that would be the ideal setup for sure.
