Cheezy's Eurobraced 210g SC aquariums (1 Viewer)

Nice stand, it doesnt look like wood, it looks like pvc or something. Very nice gloss finish

Wow, good job on the stand. Can't wait to barter up a deal with him for mine. At least something went as promised.

sorry to hear your not happy with the tank. i had there 150 gallon and it was exactly like the photo. the overflow was off but its because they use metric bulkheads

It's a Gloss Black Conversion Lacquer; a lacquer based finish with paint-like color pigments.
It definitely has a reflective surface, but it is very finicky when applying. Very light coats; and lots of them.
It was a learning experience using the gloss based finish; even for me.

Sure, when I want inset doors it's blah blah talk Marty of inset doors blah blah but when someone else wants them it's all good....:bawling:

;)

Well, it looks like SC is going to take the aquarium back. No details on if they are going to try to charge me for the return. It looks like I need to get back out there and get some more custom quotes. :stars::stars::stars::swear::swear::swear:

They aren't going to get you the one you wanted? You are going to look elsewhere?

I don't think they offer custom. He basically said that all of that bracing was necessary and apologized for not having the actual pictures for the tank. Yeah, I am back to getting quotes...they didn't have any other options.

That internal bracing on the bottom, bottom euro bracing I think it's called, might be more common in big tanks than your think it is. My tank has it and when you get into the details of many others big tanks they have it too. Something I never knew about/saw until I got mine. In the end I think it's a pretty good thing, provides way more surface area/strength than normal construction.

Top cross braces suck, always do but such an important part in many designs. Guy who made mine said if I glued in the center braces mine would never come apart. Not sure what that means since I never did... :)

You are playing with fire!!!!!!

If I would have known about the bracing layout ahead of time, I may have responded differently. It just felt very deceptive.

Update: SC came back with a financial alternative to sending it back....so the build is back on.

Vectra M1 return pump has been ordered!

I went with Besser Glass for my baffles. I usually make my own out of acrylic, but I can't have a baffle failure, since the sump can't come out once it goes in :)

I'm still waffling on the lights... down to Radions or Orphek.

Orphek! They just look awesome.

On a different note, when I built my for a different tank, I put a door on then end so I could remove the sump if need be. Is it too late to retrofit a door into the end?

I think....I think you just need one of these.

that should cut through Jason's beautiful stand, right Jason?

I think Jason just died a little inside hearing such talk :)

It's not a big deal to go this route. Worst case if the sump fails, I can go with a remote sump, since my fish room is on the other side of that wall. I will have plenty of skimmer even if I put in a 150 gallon sump :p

I thought about suggesting it prior, but didn't, as I figured that would be jlanger's response. hehe

That said, I hate to think of the possibility that you would be stuck with a useless sump...
