I read something where people would slightly damage an acro encrusting like that and would cause it to sprout new branches. Just like when a tip breaks or similar to deer farms and antlers.

Man do I miss this piece. Stupid vibrant (I think... not sure but I need something to blame and no way I'm going to blame myself :) )

I've noticed since installing my filter roller and dosing aminos, my torches aren't doing so hot. The tissue around each head is starting to recede, and a few have lost a head or two.

... maybe the water is too clean for them?

Idk, I have fairly elevated nutrients (20-30 NO3 .08-.1 PO4). But I believe vibrant massively messes with the beneficial biological bacteria population and that's what messed up a lot of my euphyllia and starfish and mandarin a while back. I have no proof just my thoughts

You dosing to get nitrates up there? Is that your secret sauce?

Lol nope, not intentionally at least. They're actually closer to 40 at the moment which is a little too high for my liking. Too many fish. Haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do to knock it down yet.

Sent in my first Triton test for the tank. Things came back good. Surprised how low my PO4 was. Just shows how inaccurate hobby grade tests can be (mine always shows ~.1ppm). I'll probably raise my mag a bit as well.

Raising mag slowly-ish to 1350. I purchased some strontium and iodine but haven't got around to dosing yet. I'm thinking I'll just increase my measurements of mag and trace elements for the DIY All-for-reef and that should maintain levels. We'll see

Forgot to post this small update. About a month ago I needed to seal a leak in my well room, along with cleaning, de-molding, and repainting. The room is right by the tank and I was concerned about the fumes from the paint and even more with the de-molding fumes. I ended up purchasing a clear tarp and sealing off the well room from the rest of the basement. Thankfully it worked (or maybe I was just being overly cautious) and things didn't skip a beat. Here's how it looked during the clean out.

I saw the construction and thought maybe you were renovating and the 170 was making a debut

Who says it's not?

Jk still trying to wait until we move... Whenever that may be

Yay!
Has there been much of an increase in aggression from the transitioning fish towards the female? There was some with my pair of Lamarck's but nothing too terrible. I have heard that different species may exhibit differing levels of aggression, but I've also heard that it's individually specific, system specific and other factors.

Not anymore than there already was between the two. The male had longer streamers and was exhibiting dominant behavior for close to two years so I had a feeling he’d be the one transitioning. There’s a little chasing and harassing here and there but nothing too aggressive thankfully
