This tank is looking ridiculously good! No algae anywhere Wowzers! Is that a pink lemonade blingin on the top right?

Would you mind sharing your coral nutrition info? I see some AcroPower hooked to the doser in the one photo, what, if anything else do you use? And with that, what kind of NO3 and PO4 numbers are you shooting for or are you at currently?
Overfeeding and Acropower are the only things I feed the tank. My frozen food mixtures usually contain some sort of coral food (benereef or reef chili), which I feed every 2 or 3 days. Besides that it's just pellet, flake, and nori. I try to keep PO4 ~0.1 and Nitrates ~20 (I checked them both before my water change tonight and they were at 0.07 and ~20). Hope that helps.

Agreed....or more direct question would be: how did you get all the algae from your tank into mine?!!! #spotless!!
I told all of my algae and pests they would have even more rock and corals to bother if they hopped on your dynamite and OP frags :) How are they doing btw?

Looking very nice! T5 hybrid FTW!
Agreed! I love mine, however it was a PIA to get the white one here to the states.

I wish. Unfortunately I lost my PL colony. Need to grab a frag from someone locally soon. I believe the one you're referring to is a flashlight echinata.

Small Update: Everything is doing well aside from my torches and gorgonian. My thoughts are that vibrant has something to do with it and/or my watanabei angelfish have developed a taste for fleshy corals... I'm swearing off vibrant for good though. This is my third time using it and sure it does what it says, but the side effects (predominately altering/destroying your biological bacteria population) aren't worth it imo.

Sps have been steadily growing thanks to the KHD/Profilux. I started using kalk again for a ph boost and to also lower the amount I dose my DIY all-for-reef, and so far it's done just that. I need to think of a better solution for mixing the kalk in larger quantities because manually filling and shaking 5 gallon jugs every other day is getting old fast. I think I remember @jlanger posting something about mixing kalk in bulk in his build thread so I'll check that out first.

Sadly, no new fish or coral additions to speak of. I know, I'm boring. This summers been too crazy but I plan on focusing on the tank more in the fall/winter months. Tank maintenance is always my go-to when the Vikings are losing, so my tank looks spotless this season :)

WWC Jelly Bean still not showing any blue :( I've heard conflicting reports on whether a frag needs to have all colors to grow them or not. So far it's not looking to promising.

Here's a link to that post; here.
There's also a small blurb and photo of the set up in a post above it.

I will say that I really like the kalkwasser mixing station; very easy to mix up a batch for my ATO.

Dropping a pump in the bucket would be a basic idea maybe?
Yeah I could do that and then shut the pump off after mixing cuz I thought I read somewhere that you don’t want it constantly mixing, maybe I’m wrong though lol

Alright, kalk water mixing/holding station complete. I went with a 32 gallon brute can hoping that with the lid on it the whole time the kalk water will keep its ph elevation over a couple of weeks (we’ll see). For initial circulation I went with a Jaebo 5200 gph pump which is HUGE (doesn’t fit horizontally in a 5 gallon bucket) and way overkill but it was cheap and does the job so I’ll keep it.

Went to New Wave this weekend and picked up some Slide-Loc products I’ve been meaning to buy. Great work @RSnodgrass ! The small container is my favorite. The frag rack is slick and I know they’re meant for up to 1/2” thick glass but they also work on my 5/8” glass (albeit not as strong of a hold which makes sense).

As far as the tank goes, I had an issue where my alk refused to rise no matter how much I upped my doses, and turned out my Mag was very low at 1200. The coral didn’t seem to matter much, and I brought it back up over a few days. Test your Mag people :)

Went down a salinity rabbit hole on R2R last week and it got me wondering if my Milwaukee Digital Refractometer was off or not. I bought 4 different refractometer calibration solutions and a Vee Gee Stx-3 to test it against. Interestingly enough, after calibrating the Stx-3 with distilled water, the Brightwell and Aquatic Experts calibration solutions were wayyy off from what they were supposed to be (yes I shook them all up and made sure they were room temp and same temp). Maybe those were just bad bottles and they're usually fine but something for people to check if they use those to calibrate. Anyways, turns out my digital refractometer was off by +.001, but it was consistently off by that much so I can work with that.

During Black Friday I picked up some parts to finally plumb a media reactor off of the manifold that's been unused. I decided to go with these cool snap fittings and am interested to see how they perform. Right now everything is glued and drying. I'll post more pics once it's installed and running.

I also picked up some new fish, and in preparation for it I setup the qt in its new spot now that the kalk mixing station is in its old one lol.

Switched out T5 bulbs after probably 18 months of use... went with the same combo except instead of 6 blue+ bulbs I went with 4 blue+ and 2 actinic (and kept 1 purple+ and coral+). I burned them in 4 at a time at 100% and am on the second set of four right now. So far so good, I've actually seen alk consumption go up quite a bit so I'll probably keep it higher than normal after burn in (maybe 75-80% from the usual 65%) if things stay happy.

For the first time in a while I have some new fish in qt right, and purchased a couple corals as well. I also took advantage of some Black Friday deals to stock up on things like salt, bulbs, and other boring but necessary items. Oh and I bought this :)

No immediate plans for it. I got it in preparation for when we move in the next year or so to make the transition easier, and because the dimensions are exactly what I was looking for in a new tank.

Last November, my fiancé and I purchased our first home, and right away I started thinking of where a new larger tank could go. Some new house tasks have delayed the build a bit (and continue to do so), but I’ve made some progress and am now ready to share my journey with you all!

The tank was purchased used from Adam (@Adam G ) in March. It’s a Red Sea Reefer 525XL that he kept in great shape during his two years of use. With it came an Artfully Acrylic Clearview lid, and a 25W Aqua UV sterilizer.

I am interested if you are going to sell it.

Very nice but you sure the first one is Bonfire and not Aquatic man table ? Reason I say because I have both and it’s aquatic man table I think and not bonfire

They're all pretty cool but the first and last are great!
Thanks Ryan!

The current RSR 525XL I have? Yeah I'll be selling it whenever I move and transfer everything. It will probably be 6 months - a year however

Positive, I have both as well :) Similar but bonfire seems to have more green polyps throughout compared to aquatic man which seems to have more orange-brown (below)

Since you are absolutely killin it here I have a couple questions. Corals are looking GREAT!!

How much Acropower have you settled on dosing?

What are you doing for water changes?

Appreciate it Ben. I dose 13ml a day every day and all at once (2am). As for why I don’t spread out the dose throughout the day, I just don’t see that personally making much of a difference, but I could certainly be wrong. After seeing great results with sps color and flesh health in the 40 gallon tank I swear by the stuff though.

for water changes, I do around a 15% water change (15-20 gallons) every two weeks, but it’s not a strict schedule by any means. Red Sea blue bucket fwiw

Awesome thanks! Yeah I remember your success on the small tank and see others like Budman’s doing the same with success. I do it intermittently but I just need to get the stuff on a doser for consistency.

I've seen marked improvement in coloration with my montipora corals when I'm dosing AcroPower.
I'm manually dosing it now; 10ml/days-that-I-remember.
I built my ATO reservoir with a small chamber for holding a secondary supplement to dose with my DŌS pump, but now that I have other equipment in the way, it's more of an issue to fill the reservoir than to manually dose.

New Year FTS shots

After repositioning the BC Bonfire frag I was able to get a better shot of it and show the difference between it and the aquatic man a bit better

A few years ago when AcanLord was in business, I passed on a beautiful orange acantho that I've thought about ever since. Ended up finding a similar one at Reef Co and pulled the trigger on it. It's continued to color up well and is fairly large already, so the high flow doesn't seem to be as big of an issue as I was fearing it would.
