Fritz's Home Display - Tank Build (1 Viewer)

Here is what it looks like after 3 hours of scrubbing from Scott and I.

Seriously, reefing is a garden and no magical product works as good as simple weeding. I'm not saying you don't want to make things as easy as possible and have a good cleanup crew. But for 3-6 hours of scrubbing a month... having a reef like this in your home is totally worth it!

I know you said you were done with fish, but I bet if you added a healthy Powder Brown Tang, it would help control the algae. Mine seems to love grazing on that hair algae type stuff. It's virtually non-existent in my tank now. Good luck! You have some sweet looking corals.

I like the Magnificent rabbit. My tank is only 30"X30" so I want to avoid a fast moving tang. Right now I am devoting a couple months to the fast-Magnesium-kill method and biopellets. Only I am using BRS instead of Kent. I did add a dozen emeralds though :)

Scott did the hard work... though he seemed to be having some fun, because he would make tearing and crunching sound effects in between screaming, "Die", "DIE!".

bryopis

kill that bryopsis **** with kent tech m and be done with it:coolmad:plenty of threads you can check out on other forums that discuss this and it works. I've had to do it twice on my system in about 5 years and both times it knocked that crap out dead as door nails...don't try to skimp and use 2 part magnesium supplements use the kent tech-m only and you wont regret it. something in that mixture makes all the difference.

I am going to give normal supplements a try, If it doesn't do anything, after the next plucking I will water change down the Mag, then bring it up with Kent again. I need to give the BRS stuff a fair shake.

Fritz, Watch your inverts when you raise that mag. My starfish got sluggish and I am not sure, but I think I started losing snails (hard to count). Emeralds made it through just fine. I didn't have many hermits, but they were fine too. The cleaner shrimp seemed to be ok too. I never got my mag higher than 1600, however....

Serpent starfish I found upside down on the sand one day, so I plucked it out and dropped it in the other tank. I'm just saying, keep an eye out. I was watching cuz I found on the internet, so I didn't know if it was true, that raising the mag had wiped out somene's inverts..

I used BRS an it worked great

Check. I will watch that. I should be at 1850 after this mornings dose. One issue is the salinity can go up too.

won't work, i tried it multiple times. has to be the kent tech M or you're wasting your time. there is something in that product that makes all the difference. you only have to go a bit past 1500 with the tech M and the nice thing I didn't see much for invert loss at this level. just keep that 1500+ level with the tech m and the stuff just withers away and disappears.....
