I did a thing…. IM SR-120 incoming (1 Viewer)

Oh man that sucks. Best of luck to you and the fish. I know I personally would be super stressed at having to leave for work. Sorry you woke up to see that. Hopefully they'll make it to tonight.
Yep it sucks. What I hate more is I have a purple tang in QT now that’s doing great. I don’t want to add these guys in on him. But that means three tanks running at once 😒

Do you have another tank to set up in the mean time? I have a 10 and 13 sitting around you can use. They just have the hang on back filter. Pretty sure I have a heater as well. The 10 has a stand. Can use it/them as long as you need.

Thanks for the offer man! I’ve get everything minus a tank at this point. Petco still has their sale going on so I’ll pick up another 20 long on my way home. I was just trying to avoid having to try and net all the fish and use copper.

Still not sure if it’s ich or velvet… I think velvet should have killed them by now…

Well I got home to find all of my fish still alive, but my powder blue was looking much worse. I had put a message out on a different page and the guys there seem to think it could be brook or possibly velvet. If velvet I’m shocked they are still kicking! I did manage to get everyone out of the tank. They all got a 30 minute peroxide bath then transferred to a new quarantine tank.

Well that’s something. Fingers crossed man!

Well the two I knew were in trouble didn’t make it. Hopefully I can save the rest. My tanks spy cam informed me I forgot about my wrasse… so now I’ve got to go after him.

So sad. Sorry man :/. Hope the rest make it. Losing livestock is the worst.

Dude I hear that. Every time I see how successful people are with “dump and pray” I wonder to myself, “why are you such a nut case with qt?” But it definitely can happen. I’m really sorry it happened to you man. Blech.

Are you able to tell exactly what the disease was by looking at the dead fish? I don’t know if that’s useful or not?

Based on input from humble fish they seem to think it’s Brook and after seeing the powder blue I tend to agree. Peeling white slime. A peroxide bath definitely helped but the two tangs were just to far gone. Realistically I took a couple extra days that probably could have saved them but work and life got in the way of that!

Gotcha. Sucks in either case. But I assume good to know what it was. We can always learn. So nice to have folks like Humblefish around. They provided me a bunch of help with all my coral qt setup etc. Great group of folks.

For sure! Now just to get that wrasse out of the tank so I can start the fallow process

76 days of fun :)

Not sure I’ll go 76. Tank is being peroxide dosed and has a uv running. I’m going to bring the temp up and go for the 6 week. Humble and I were talking and I’m 95% sure it was brook so the 76 shouldn’t be needed.

Patience grasshopper :)

But obviously I trust Humblefish more than myself. I assume you have enough sensitive stuff that you can’t do the 80.6F accelerated fowlr period Humblefish talks about?

Honestly I’m not sure. My inverts would probably handle it. The torch and hammers is what I would worry about I think.

Gotcha. Yea I dunno. I think euphyllia are usually deeper water. So probably a little cooler also? Probably not worth the risk. I know I started my coral/invert qt at those higher temps, but eventually just dropped to normal reef temps to match my DT and I just suck it up and wait the full 76 days. *shrug

Well after destroying my rock work I finally got the wrasse out! Now to put everything back together.

Yowza. I’m going to need to catch my yellow Coris this weekend to swap to the new tank. I guess at least I have the advantage that I’m tearing down the old tank so I don’t care if I need to pull out all the rock. Hope the fallow goes well!

I was told to flash him with a really bright flashlight and it would stun him. Once out of the sand it worked like a charm!

I may go grab some more cleanup crew tomorrow to put in the display and let them do their qt session in there sense it will need to stay empty anyway
