Redeclipse's Fluval Edge LED Mod (1 Viewer)

One key thing you are missing.... a stand LOL.

I already have a stand! Its made out of plastic, has drawers, and works perfect! ;)

Most likely I'll either build something or just wait until I move out of my parents house and find a better place for it in wherever I end up living.

these rubbermaid shelves are pretty stable though. I have a piece of 1'X1' tile on top so it doesn't deform. The tank shakes a little when I open the drawers though. haha

Might as well put these here... first pictures of my 2-spot in the new tank-

I really like that first pic. Nice work with the cam. Interesting looking fish too. I might have to read up on those.

little update here...

the pictures were taken maybe 10 minutes after I added him to the tank,

after a good meal, he got back to work and dug out the base of my rock...

Hopefully that bugger doesn't die on ya. They're really hard to keep especially if u don't have a mated pair.

They eat so much and are filter feeders. People with huge tanks still can't keep them alive. I think the longest I've read was somewhere around 4 months. I di so much research on these guys because they're my favorite gobys of all time.

Tacking on late here(sorry!), but I'd go less sand as well, if only because water changes on those are a HUGE pain in the rear to me.

If anyone has figured out a good method, I'm willing to listen.

Looking good, Tony!

looking nice! I like the final:beerchug: what's the coral list?

yeah, I already took a bunch of sand out.

As for water changes, I dont know if I see it as being a big issue... I usually just siphon out water and add new stuff unless the sand is covered in cyano or something (which i'm hoping wont happen in this tank because of the goby sifting pretty constantly)

what IS a huge pain though is trying to do anything like place corals. I usually like to use my hands to put stuff in the tank becasue my tweezer/gripper/whatever isn't all that easy to maneuver, but whenever I try putting my hand in, by the time i get it down where my rocks are, the water starts overflowing out the top

As for coral lists,
not quite sure yet. Hoping to have some rics and acans (two favorites) and some cool zoas of some sort.
Possibly some star polyps (although my star polyps ate one of my ricordeas in my biocube...)
I'm starting to get a bit worried about this lack of light coverage though. The only good way to really get decent coverage would be to start building mini LED fixtures and suspending them over the tank or something, and that'd kind of ruin the aesthetics of the tank... I'm really hoping that some lower light coral will survive at the edges though, everything out there looks really shaded right now though

You should take a look at the Japanese style spotlighting for reef tanks. You can have the lights feet away from the tank with a good reflector to focus the light into a nice beam to illuminate parts of the tank.

yeah... its definitely an option... might end up being expensive though. I wish someone made a screw in LED with royal blue and white LEDs in it...
