Going full AF this round.
Use the AF life bio fil and AF life source to start the tank.
And components 1,2 and 3 for dosing. Manual for now, need to build a dosing container and ATO container due to the size of the stand.

Every tank I’ve seen that runs full AF looks awesome fwiw

The alk and mag are a bit low, most likely due to the fact I tried to drop the salinity by removing salt water and adding RO/DI; with the large tank, I didn't notice any issue. I guess I am in a different game now.

I am doing "full" AF without their carbon dosing since I don't plan on doing a skimmer. I will only do a 50% water change per month to keep the nutrients in check. Fish list most likely to be 2-4 clowns.

Here comes the uglies. Will add some 🐌 later today.
Keep the par around 100-150 range for this stage. Since nothing is my tank need more than that for now.

Mg is dropping like a rock. Ten days went from 1320 to 1190. Small tank, when parameters swing, they swing hard. I need to get used to that; unlike the 300g, once you get it there, it stays there. Doser, on the way, picked up a 4 parts dosing container. Chamber 1-3 will be use for AF components 1-3, the 4th chamber will be use for BRS MG solution. Until everything stabilizes, then it will switch to kalk long term.

That’s crazy for mf to drop that fast! Maybe equalizing with the rock/aragonite?

Totally possible. it has been year since I have sand in my tank. just make up some BRS mg solution. will bring it back to 1350 within the next 2 days.

First time use AF life source.

Just another week
Still fishless. Feeding the dendro 2x per day.
Alk 9.3
Ca420
Mg1320
N03 0.2
PO4 0.03
1.026 SG
rock leech out a ton of phosphate, I didnt know it will be this much, nothing a few specimen cup of phosguard can't take care of. now I know every specimen cup of phosguard will drop 13ppb/0.03ppm of PO4 for this system.
Diatom still growing, the snails are keeping up for now, might need to add a few more.

Added 2 new fish
Added RBTA, still no clownfish :(
Added 3 sexy shrimps
Added 10 more trochus
Alk 9.3
Ca 450
Mg 1350
NO3 7ppm
PO4 0.07ppm/26ppb
The additional feedings due to the new finicky 🐠, show its effect much faster in smaller tank.
No root type of algae on rock, still small amount of diatom on sand and glass. Nothing those throchus can't take care overnight.

2 days and home made rock food holder later.
Copperbanded eats off the water column now, along with the convict tang. Both now know if they don't get to it first other will.

The tank is moving forward.
It's been a while since I got a nano setup alone, not tight into a big system.
The salinity got away from me, going from 1.026 to 1.030 over four weeks. I lost four snails and pissed off one RBTa. Just a little bit of extra water after a water change over four weeks was the cause. Because the nutrients are bottoming out, I changed my weekly water change from 5g to 3g.
I guess the salinity check will be my weekly checking item now.
SPS already went in 2 weeks ago. They are doing well.
Alk 8
Ca 420
Mag 1320
NO3 1
PO4 0.06
Filter floss doing a very good job, my nutrients keep dropping. I am adding AF power elixir into the feeding routine starting next week, just try to keep my NO3 and PO4 bottom out.

Moving forward, I added a few acans and a couple more SPS and a cool nem. I will let it settle in before taking a photo.

Alk 9.6

Ca 390

Mg 1320

NO3 0

PO4 0.02

I am dosing 2ml AF power elixir, but the nutrients still bottom out.

The Copperbanded butterflyfish might be a cyanide-caught fish. It exhibits the classic sign of eating like a pig but keeps losing weight. I have a feeling it won't be with me much longer.

Some clownfish and a goni are arriving tomorrow, and a nice SPS pack on Sunday. I am expecting a surprise nem in a week or two. :) The tank is getting there. Hopefully, after adding a few more corals here and there, I can get into the grow-out stage and stop putting in new corals and enjoy watching them grow.
